| DATE: | | | FROM: Public Safety | | | | SUBJECT: Approval to apply for the Helping Emergency Responders Obtain Support (HEROS) Program grant with the Florida Department of Health (DOH). This program was developed to respond to the nationwide opioid epidemic. The grant application deadline is July 31, 2018. Additional approval of membership application and membership agreement with Minnesota Multistate Contracting Alliance for Pharmacy, as required by the grant application, and designation of Chief Lorin Mock as the facility representative with approval to execute and submit all documents. Further approval to waive the Purchasing Policy as it may apply.

| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND INFORMATION: | The DOH has been appropriated $5,000,000 from the General Revenue Fund for the purchase of emergency opioid antagonists to be made available to emergency responders. Eligible applicants are all Florida agencies that employ emergency responders. Staff was just made aware of this grant opportunity. The application deadline is July 31, therefore this requires that the application be submitted directly to the Board for consideration. |
