SUBJECT: Discussion regarding term of current Agreement No. 2015/2016-66, Professional Lobbying Services with The Fiorentino Group. (K. Thomas)

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The current Fiorentino Group Agreement expires Sept. 30, 2019.  The current Agreement term was set on the County's budget year not taking into consideration that Session dates change based on even/odd years. Session schedule for 2020 begins in January.

 

Current consideration:

Committee Week begins September 16th.  County should anticipate working with Lobbiest on a list of potential projects at the end of August. Due to 2020 session period, consider an additional  7 month extension of current Agreement after which time staff will re-bid these services.

 

Recommendation going forward:

  • Extend current Agreement for 7 months to get through 2020 session and veto period
  • Issue new bid solicitation in April, 2020 
  • New Agreement (that is a result of the bid award) should include a term that follows the State Budget of July 1 – June 30
