TO: Planning Commission
DATE: 3/27/2017

FROM: Chad A. Williams, Zoning Chief

SUBJECT: Public Hearing to Consider a Change to the Landscape Ordinance Regarding Perimeter Buffer Planting Between Like Residential Uses.

AGENDA ITEM TYPE:

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The applicant is requesting to amend the landscape code in order to not require trees between like residential uses where the perimeter boundaries are conterminous. Section 6-8(5)(d) states that where uses are similar, canopy tree plantings are required no less than 50' apart within 10' of the property line. The applicant will demonstrate why this is not a good practice to follow and staff would add that  enfocement of these trees, once planted, can be problematic.
