| | | | | | | | | BACKGROUND INFORMATION: | For the 2026 Primary and General Elections, per Florida Statutes Section 102.141(1), the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners shall serve on the County Canvassing Board along with the Supervisor of Elections and a County Court Judge. In the event the Chair is unable to serve, per Florida Statutes Section 102.141(1)(c), the Board of County Commissioners must appoint as a substitute member one of its members who is not a candidate with opposition in the election being canvassed and who is not an active participant in the campaign or candidacy of any candidate with opposition in the election being canvassed.
To comply with the County Canvassing Board requirements, staff would request that two alternates be selected.
